I really don't know where to start. Being in VA brings back so many memories and I was so happy to make some more with my little man. Can I just say that he absolutely loved all the attention he got. I knew he would. This may have been the first time he was the ONLY grandchild around. Grandpa Pete and GG got to see his sweet side. I don't know if they wanted that many kisses and hugs from M, but they got their share. Every time Micah hugged one person he had to go around the room and hug everyone. Same for kissing and high fives. My mom, Micah and I stayed at a hotel about 6 minutes from their home. It was perfect. They had a continental breakfast every morning which made it fun for all of us. We got up around 7 a.m. and went downstairs for some eggs, yogurt, bagels... and most importantly COFFEE. Our hotel room was big enough to give Micah his own space and he slept great. Got up a little earlier than normal, but slept through the night like a champ.
I'll never forget running around in the lobby. Nana and Micah would play tag and he would get out all his energy. He was always ready for a nap around 11-12 p.m. When we got to GG's house he would play for about an hour and then slept in the pack and play for 3- 4 hours. He is the perfect age to take to GG's house. He loved playing with his train and cars and would just have the best time performing for us in the living room. He also found a new best friend....Grandpa Pete. By the end of the week he was saying "Pee" meaning Pete. Grandpa played with him and gave him a few rides on his jazzy outside.
He would be sitting on Grandpa's lap and would say "Give me some sugar (in southern style it's pronounced "Sugah") Grandpa would try and tickle his neck and give him kisses and Micah would just laugh and laugh. Some other phrases I haven't heard in awhile: I Swoney, Lord (pronounced Lawd) have mercy, and Bless her heart. There are more of them, but those are the only ones I can think of at the moment. I have an overload of photos to share and just looking at them you can see how much fun we had.
Grandpa turned 78 and we got to celebrate with him and go out for Mexican food!! It was so nice to be there for his birthday and see him and GG. We also got to see my cousin Leia and Brandon and my aunt Shel and Ronnie. I didn't get a photo with all of them...woops ..but I have them captured in my memory.
I knew Micah was a great age for visiting them, but I didn't realize how wonderful it would be for me. I was so blessed by everyone. I really needed that time to heal. Even though I couldn't talk about Lotte much, being with everyone helped me more than I ever could have thought. Of course, my mom understands what it's like to lose a dog. We talked about the many dogs she has had in her life.
It was a lovely time to eat, talk, hear Peter Wonderful tell stories, and reminisce about the past.
Here are all the photos in order of when we got there.
